The Hot One
Undoubtedly the most significant Chopper of all time. With its release in 1969, Golden yellow was the favoured colour amongst Carmine red and Flamboyant green.
This example is totally original, still retaining all of the correct parts for its age. The rear hub reads ‘70 11’ meaning November 1970, which is the same as the frame.
First owner: Lucky eight year-young rider who rode it everyday to do the paper-round in Stratford Upon-Avon. This bike was cherished by the same owner from new in 1970 until 2022 when she sadly passed away. The chopper was uncovered from under the stairs of a stone cold 19th century bungalow with an oily tarpaulin over it to keep the chrome from rusting. Unfortunately I was too slow to buy the bike off the family, however I threw an offer to the collector who bought it and he reluctantly accepted it!
As seen here, it has got new tyres on as the old ones were non existent! Other than that, it holds all of its original parts it left the factory with.
I am honoured to own this amazing piece of Raleigh history. This hot one gets ridden in all seasons. I am not a fan of garage queens and believe all Choppers should be enjoyed.
