With only 500 produced worldwide in 2019, this Raleigh Super Tuff Burner is one of the rarer variations and looks superb in its gold ‘Superchrome’ finish with black Skyway Tuff IIs. Discover more about this bike below.
As you can see, this bike is not your average Raleigh Burner. This is what is called the ‘Super Tuff’. Back in 1983, when the bike was first released, it created a storm of young BMX enthusiasts, who instantly gravitated towards the idea of owning one. Throughout the BMX boom Raleigh sold over one million Burners. It shaped the BMX industry in the UK for most of the 1980s, and this is the bike which started it all.
Pictured here is what Raleigh came up with in 2019. This is arguably the most successful Anniversary Burner produced with all 500 units selling out within three hours of release. This one makes for a perfect summer bike, brilliant for taking to the shops and to shows. The gold Superchrome finish is in immaculate condition with no scratches or peeling. It is also the bike which I brought to BBC Surrey to speak about following the recent news of Raleigh’s insolvency. There will be a feature about this soon on the ‘Gallery’ part.
