HAC Concours. June 2023

In addition to the amazing text message of ‘swing by next Friday, we have a surprise for you’, the weather was mid twenties all week, just perfect! Its June 2023, where we go back to one of the most picturesque car events of the year. One can only dream at events like this, where cars come out of their yearly storage just for the event. They are looked at like art rather than wheels, which in some instances is a shame! I was fortunate enough however to be driven in the 1973 Porsche 911 2.7 RS and 1992 Porsche 964 RS N/GT from Hampshire to Central London on a Wednesday morning. That was mayhem and my good friends were the only people who didn’t trailer the cars there. You should get an award for that! It was a real ‘pinch yourself’ moment. Being in the half a million pound 2.7RS heading down the M3 and into Hammersmith was a true eye opener. It felt like a 10 year old car. We stopped for coffee in South Kensington and I went in the 964 for a swap and boy was it an animal! Think of a Le Mans racer of that era. This is pretty much a road going version of it. Favourites at the show involved a gorgeous Verte Argente Citroen SM. Probably the most 70s car you could think of. Also, there were many pretty 2.7RS, but we all know which the best example is… If I could only take one home, it would have to be the Verde Miura (Lime Green) Lamborghini Miura P400S. Such a rare icon and as good as it gets for me. It could just be topped with one of my Choppers posing next to it!
