The all original 1973 Raleigh Chopper Mk2 in Fizzy Lemon.

When I first saw this bike for sale on a popular auction website, I could see straight away that it had a lot of potential. The original paint looked dirty, but shiny. The majority of the chrome work was badly pitted. However the biggest selling point for me was its original receipt from new! When I picked it up from the lucky chap (Andrew) who had kept it in his damp shed for over 50 years, he informed me that the bike is exactly how it was in 1973. Unfortunately the original bars snapped, hence the non genuine ones added. I even kept the ‘TSC Music Systems’ stickers which were Andrew’s dad’s company. All these little bits of provenance make this example stand out from all the concours restored bikes and give it so much more charm! For more about the story, please visit the gallery section. And now the fun bit, the restoration in progress from start to finish. As always, everything has been kept totally original and just cleaned and polished to as best can be. All new tyres and bearings however… Enjoy the below!
