Wimbledon Southside Car Meet. February 2026

Welcome to the first Southside of the year for me! I was originally going to go in January, however it was far too cold and icy to be riding a Chopper without eating the pavement! So here we are. The Targa Mustard had its birthday today on the 1st Feb 2026. It is a Feb 1971 bike, which makes it 55 years old! Unbelievable when you see the condition of it. Unfortunately, weather wasn’t on our side today. It was windy and very wet! Not the ideal conditions for a 55 year old Chopper, however it was great fun and the bike was very well received. As usual, I was stopped on every corner with stories of people owning a Chopper as a kid. I also enjoyed a peaceful ride around Wimbledon Village and was spotted by a keen photographer! Now for the treacherous weather, there was a fantastic turn out of classics. Many older 911s and modern classics still being used, which was great to see. If I could only take one away however, it would have to be the modified Peugeot 505 GTi. It looked and sounded immense; I’d be very happy for it to sit next to my Peugeot 106 Rallye.
