New Years Day Car Show at The Phoenix Inn 2025

As tradition follows, you join me back at the local pub for a NYD car show. Unfortunately, it was a very wet day so I got the newly acquired Raleigh Tuff Burner Mk1 out and headed straight there. To my surprise, there were so many people who had brought their classics out, even on a very rainy day. This was the first time the Burner had ever felt rain. It had a full nut and bolt restoration in the late 00s and was put in an attic since, until I bought it. I was a bit nervous at first as it is a concours condition bike that has had a lot of money spent on it. My dear friend Raymond brought out his Audi 100 Crayford Convertible which he has owned for the last 34 years! It is also the best condition surviving example (one of eight built) and he still brings it out in the rain! Another favourite of mine was the Subaru Impreza STi 22B, which were the owner has rebuilt to a road race specification. For those that don’t know, a low mileage 22B will sell for £300,000-£500,000, depending on quality and provenance, so to get one and rebuild it how you want it, is extremely brave!
