Wimbledon Southside Car Meet. February 2025

On a chilly Sunday morning, I called up a few friends asking if they would be up for meeting at Wimbledon Southside Common for the monthly meet. Even when it is frosty and below 0 degrees, the answer is never ‘no’. At the time, I only had the yellow Mk1 Chopper and the new to me Mk1 Tuff Burner. As it was FREEZING, I decided to take the Burner as it is easier to ride and if I wanted to get a cake and warm drink, I could bring myself to chain it to a tree and leave it. That’s what I did and to my surprise when I got back, there was a matching Ferrari Testarossa parked next to it, which set for many cool photos. A real throwback to the 80s with the beautiful common in the background. I spoke to the owner, who was a huge fan of the bike (he had a Tuff Burner as a kid) and explained how the Testarossa was a wall poster car for him as a kid and recently was able to acquire this example, which was Giallo from new and an original RHD car. Other favourites of mine included a Nocciola Testarossa. A very marmite colour, but when are you going to see another? I personally love it. Another uber cool yellow mode of transport, the Lamborghini Diablo SV, which is brought regularly to these meets and used in all weathers! I have to mention the Lancia Delta Integrale Evo II Monte Carlo Edition. This special edition was limited to just eight units. What a rare beast in such immaculate condition to see, plus with all the salt on the roads!
