73 Sprint GT meets 73 2.7 RS. November 2022
With winter really stumbling upon us, I promptly called on a few friends for a meet up with their classic cars at Blackbushe Airport. I withdrew the Sprint GT from its lovely warm home and brought it to the little meet. My friends Simon & Polly took out the two Porsches, which you would have seen in the previous post. The 2.7 RS is also a 73 which matches the sprint so well. If I remember correctly, there is only two months difference in production times between the two. Theirs has just come out of a fresh nut and bolt restoration, after purchasing the car as a project in Japan. Just like my Sprint, Martyn Green of Youngs Cycles restored it to his as usual concours standard, using all NOS parts, making it THE best restored Sprint GT left in existence. I do prefer original, but this was no exception, so I had to add it to my personal collection. Also joining us were some passer bys in an immaculately restored Lancia Fulvia 1.3 and a fresh off the production line Morgan 3 Wheeler! Later on, the photos of the Sprint and RS eventually made their way onto the front cover of Porsche Club GB. I felt very proud!
